Life and support in the heart of the community

The Guisborough Bridge Association aims to provide life and support in the heart of the Guisborough community. Set up as a community project by Churches Together in Guisborough, it is an independent charity. We aim to respond to local needs with projects for both young and old.

*Don’t be lonely * Don’t be hungry * Don’t be cold * Don’t be aimless * Don’t be lost *

Here is a selection of the projects we undertake:

Food Stop

Food Stop is a Guisborough Bridge food bank project; our response to the increasingly challenging financial situation facing individuals in our community.

Monday Friends

Monday Friends runs weekly and is a popular place at Sunnyfield House for catching up with friends over refreshments and homemade produce.

Bridge2Parents

Bridge2Parents is a support group for parents of children with additional needs.

Prayer Breakfast

Meeting most months to pray for the work of The Bridge, aiming to maintain our links with local churches by rotating around who will host and lead.

Food and Fun 4 All

Fun and Food 4 All are sessions that provide crafts, games and fun for the whole
family.

Community Shop

Our Community Shop has a very positive
atmosphere: we have plenty of fresh things for free and after paying £3 customers leave with around 10 non-perishable items.

Get Involved!

There are many ways you can get involved with our work such as becoming a volunteer for one of our projects regularly or for a one-off event, or by giving in other ways. Why not pop along to one of our projects for a chat?

Donate

  • We collect non-perishable food items for Food Stop all year round.
  • If you would like to donate any food, please drop by the Methodist Church on a Thursday morning or use the collection points in Guisborough Library, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Aldi.
  • See our ‘Giving’ page for details of how to donate financially.

Volunteer

  • We need many weekly volunteers for our catering and befriending projects – Soup & Roll, Tuesday Coffee, Monday Friends and Community Lunches.
  • Our FoodStop project needs volunteers each week to collect, sort and store food donations and to make up food parcels.
  • Our Holiday Clubs run for 1 week during half terms and the summer holidays. They need a large number of volunteers.
  • We are incredibly grateful that people are willing to give their time in support of all our community projects! If you feel drawn to this work please contact us for more information or to have an initial chat.

“Anybody who has some spare time should try helping out at The Bridge. It’s so great to help the community and any time you give is so rewarding!”
